Shipping Tips for Slides, Negatives and Photos
For ALL items
- Put your completed Order Form and any instructions to us inside an envelope.
- Put that envelope into the package before you seal it up.
Yes, with our busy lives, people really do forget.
- Seal the shipping box with strong packing tape.
- Make sure your return address is on the outside of your package / box.
- Write FRAGILE - DO NOT BEND on the outside.
Packing negatives for shipping
- Put your negatives into a large enough envelope that the negatives can lay flat.
- Place the negatives envelope between two pieces of cardboard larger than the envelopes. The cardboard should be stiff enough that it won't get bent in the mail.
- Tape the edges of the cardboard so nothing can slip out.

- If it will fit into another large envelope, slide it in, seal with strong packing tape. Otherwise, box it up, seal with strong packing tape.
Packing slides for shipping
Shipping loose slides
- NOTE: If you want your slides transferred in a specific order, you MUST number them BEFORE wrapping them.
- Stack about 20 slides together and secure with band of paper.
How? Cut paper strips about 1 inch by 10 inches. Wrap the paper strip around a stack of slides and use tape
to hold the strip together. Do NOT tape the paper strip to the slides. You're simply making a big paper band that
snugly holds a small bundle of slides.
- Wrap each bundle of slides in bubble wrap.
- Continue to stack and wrap as in # 3.
- Choose a box that all the slide bundles will fit into comfortably.
- Spread layer of "peanuts" or other filler on the bottom.
- Put the slide bundles on this filler.
- If you're also shipping negatives and/or photos or anything else with the slides, wrap them separately before putting them into the box with the slides.
- Cover everything with more filler until the box is completely full. The items inside should not be able to move around when you tilt the box. If they can, add more filler.
Shipping slides in a slide box / case / carousel
Yes, you can ship to us your slides in boxes, cases and carousels. You might want to put rubber
bands around the small slide boxes to make sure they don't open during shipping. Carousels and cases should be
bubble wrapped to also make sure they don't come open during shipping.
Packing photographs for shipping
Numbering photographs
- To number photos, we recommend that you use Post-It Notes.
Simply write a number on it and stick to the
BACK of each photo.
- If you find a photo later that belongs in a spot you have already numbered, don't worry.
Simply add "a", "b" or "c", etc. to that number.
For example: 35, 35a, 35b, 36, 37, 38, 38a, 38b, 38c, 39, 40, 40a, 41, 42 and so on.
Loose photographs
- If you plan to also have a Video Slideshow made from these photographs, remember to number your photos BEFORE
you do anything else so we will know what order they go in. (See above)
- Put all the photographs that will comfortably fit into a large enough envelope that will allow all the photographs to lay flat and tape it shut
so the photos are secure during shipping.
- For very large photos, instead of using envelopes, it's best to put them between two pieces of stiff cardboard and tape the cardboard edges together so the photos can't slide out.
- If you have your photos in groups (Chapters in a Video Slideshow), put each group into different
envelopes.
- Place everything together and wrap securely in bubble wrap or similar packing material. Make sure you're
not bending any photos. They should lie flat in the box.
- Use a box that is larger than your wrapped bundle and spread layer of "peanuts" or other filler on the bottom.
- If you're also shipping anything else with the photographs, wrap them separately before putting them into the box with the photographs.
- Cover everything with more filler until the box is completely full. The items inside should not be able to move around when you tilt the box. If they can, add more filler.
